The 10-Day Flagstaff Festival of Science

The Festival of Science creates meaningful, lasting connections between science and the people it serves—strengthening the community, supporting lifelong learning, expanding access, and inspiring future careers.

The Festival serves as a unifying event that brings together residents, educators, scientists, and local organizations around a shared celebration of discovery. It fosters civic pride and reinforces Flagstaff’s identity as a hub for science and innovation. By highlighting local research, environmental issues, and scientific resources, the Festival deepens community understanding of the region and encourages informed engagement and stewardship. The Festival welcomes participants to stay intellectually engaged and bolsters learning at every stage of life.

The Festival plays a critical role by offering all programs free of charge and distributing events throughout the community. This ensures that individuals and families, regardless of income or background, can participate in high-quality science experiences. By presenting science in engaging, approachable formats, the Festival breaks down barriers that can make STEM fields feel intimidating or out of reach, creating inclusive entry points for all learners.

The Festival provides early exposure to a wide variety of scientific disciplines and connects young people directly with professionals working in those fields. These experiences help students see what a future in science can look like, making potential career pathways more visible and attainable.
