Meet the Willow Bend Environmental Education Center! This local business has been a longtime partner of the Flagstaff Festival of Science and is a participating organization in this year’s Scavenger Hunt!

Willow Bend Environmental Education Center was founded by Jim David, a schoolteacher, and Jim Alam, a supervisor with the Coconino Natural Resource Conservation District (CNRCD). Since then, it has served as Coconino County’s only year-round, full-time environmental education center, providing place-based educational experiences for schools, community groups, residents, and visitors.

Willow Bend’s mission is to provide educational outreach services that build environmental awareness and an ethic of responsible stewardship of our natural and cultural resources.

A fun fact about Willow Bend is that our Center is a Certified Sustainable Building! We lead by example with a passive-solar, straw-bale structure, rainwater harvesting, low-water native gardens, composting, and more.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our events in the future!
