Rebecca Harner, Natural Sciences Librarian

I love the Scientific Method! I use it all the time, although sometimes I admit, a little casually. But the idea of making hypotheses, changing one variable at a time, collecting data, recording results, and analyzing those results is fun for me!

Have you ever watched America’s Test Kitchen?

Same thing! They make a recipe, like, 50 times, changing one ingredient at a time, to see how those changes affect the outcome. Then they present the BEST recipe on TV.

That’s what I hope to accomplish with my Kitchen Chemistry workshop, but with “recipes” you can use for cleaning your home, maintaining your garden, and having fun time with the kiddos.

I first became interested in using natural products when it became obvious that I was sensitive to many of the harsh chemicals used in the typical cleaning products available in retail establishments.

I started seeking out alternatives, and realized that the products I made at home were also money-saving and better overall for our planet.

Join Rebecca Harner, retired Natural Sciences Librarian who has a keen interest in using sustainable practices and natural products for household cleaning and outdoor gardening. She has a degree in teaching junior high/secondary science and mathematics, with a minor in chemistry, as well as a masters in library science. She currently works at NAU as the Operations Coordinator for Cline Library.

Says Rebecca, “I personally use all the household recipes I’ll be presenting because I’ve tested them, tweaked them, and am very happy with the final outcomes. And I want to share this with others!”

Waitlist now open for this popular presentation slated for Sept. 27, 6:00 p.m.  Reservations required.
